Hygienic Quality in Public Places in Taizhou City

Objectives To master the current hygienic state of public places in Taizhou city.

Methods Samples were collected and tested and the pass rates were analyzed according to Surveillance Technical Standard of Public Places (GB/T 17220-1998).

Results A total of 2711 samples from 370 public places were collected and tested in 2009-2011, among which, 1990 samples (73.41%) were qualified, the qualification rates in 2009, 2010 and 2011 were 77.23%, 68.69%, and 73.74%, respectively. As for the qualification of air samples, 6 622 of 6837 (96.86%) air samples were qualified, the qualification rates in 2009, 2010 and 2011 were 98.09%, 97.89% and 95.06%, respectively. The qualification rates of public articles in hotel, entertainment place, public bath room and barbershop (beauty parlor) were 85.57%, 59.41%, 67.82% and 70.40%, respectively.The qualification rates of indoor air in different public places were 98.34% (in hotel), 98.74% (in entertainment places), 94.15% (in public bath room), 96.60% (in barbershop or beauty parlor) and 98.93% (in mall).

Conclusions The pass rate of indoor air in Taizhou city was rather high. On the contrary, the pass rate of public articles was low. Supervision on public places should be strengthened in order to improve the quality of public places and protect the health of customers and staffs.
