Analytical Methods for 20 Chemical Factors in Water for Injection

    • Objectives To establish methods for determining the content of Mg, Al, K, Ca, Cr, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Ag, Cd, Sn, Ba, Pb, Na, Hg, fluoride, chloride, sulfate and nitrate in the water for injection.
Methods The content of 16 elements in the water for injection was determined by the collision cell technology (CCT) of ICP-MS. The water samples were directly acidified, and Sc, Ge, In and Bi were used as internal standards. The contents of 4 anions were determined by ion chromatography(IC).
Results The detection limits of 16 elements detected by ICP-MS were in the range of 0.009~0.165 ng/mL, and the recoveries were in the range of 80%~120%. The detection limits of four anions detected by IC were in the range of 0.005~0.015 μg/mL, and the recoveries were in the range of 90%~102%.
Conclusions The methods used for the determination of 20 chemical factors in water were simple, rapid and accurate, and it was reliable for evaluating the quality of the water for injection.
