Objectives To discuss the methods of exploring the effect of environmental factors on the quality of feeding and breeding laboratory animals and detection indexes; to provide references for improving relevant standards in the future.
Methods Referring to health engineering books and related documents to discuss the methods of detecting environmental indexes for feeding and breeding laboratory animals, and summarizing the defects in laboratory animal environment and facilities(GB 14925-2010).
Results Detection methods for carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds, heavy metals and compounds, different frequencies of noise, vibration, electromagnetic radiation and supersonic waves, as well as the detection methods for indicators of actual growth environment of animals in isolator and independent ventilation cages were put forward.
Conclusions Some inadequacies in(GB 14925-2010) should be improved. The detection methods for various indicators in all breeding environment should be additionally supplemented to ensure the environment for a better growth of laboratory animals.
