    The Quality of Drinking Water in a City of Guangdong in 2007-2010

    • Objectives To investigate the quality of drinking water in a city of Guangdong in 2007-2010.
      Methods The quality of drinking water was examined and evaluated according to the Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749-2006) and Standard Examination Methods for Drinking Water (GB/T 5750-2006).
      Results The average qualified rate of drinking water in 2007-2010 was 91.92%, and the qualification was decreased within these years. The average qualified rate in 2010 was significantly lower than the previous years (χ2=66.03, P=0.000). The qualified rate of water sources from high to low was peripheral water pipe network, finished water from the factory and the water from secondary water supply.
      Conclusions The quality of drinking water in the city should be improved; especially the monitoring and management of secondary water supply should be strengthened.
