Analysis on the Pollution Status and Change Trend of PM2.5 in the Atmosphere in Nanjing

    • Objectives To analyze the concentrations of PM2.5 of one district in Nanjing city from 2007 to 2011, evaluate the change tendency, and to explore the relationship between the effect on health and PM2.5 concentration.
Methods Based on the major supplementary monitoring data of one district in Nanjing city, PM2.5 as a representative target indicator was chosen as an appraisal factor, its change tendency was studied by adopting Spearman rank correlation coefficient method of Danniel tendency examination.
Results The change tendency of monthly average concentrations PM2.5 was closed to the U type, showing the difference of seasonal variations. The main pollutant was PM10. From 2007 to 2011, the overall trend of annual average concentrations of PM2.5 was decreased (P < 0.05).
Conclusions The control and administration of PM2.5 are efficient but the pollution with PM2.5 was still severe in that district. The industrial layout should be further adjusted and local regulations, rules and normative documents should be formulated.
