Ambient PM10 Pollution and Daily Hospital Visitors for Respiratory Diseases in Fengtai District of Beijing

    • Objectives  To explore the relationship between the pollution of ambient inhalable particulate matter and daily hospital visitors for respiratory diseases in Fengtai district of Beijing.
Methods  Generalized additive poisson regression model was used to examine the exposure-response relationship between ambient PM10 pollution and daily morbidity of respiratory diseases from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 in 2010 in Fengtai district of Beijing after controlling the long-term trends of "the day of a week" effect and meteorological factors.
Results  A 10μg/m3 increase of PM10 was associated with a 0.7% (95%CI:0.6%~0.8%) increment of daily hospital visitors for respiratory diseases.
Conclusions  There was a positive correlation between ambient inhalable particulate pollution and daily hospital visitors for respiratory diseases in Fengtai district of Beijing.
