    Application of Principal Component Analysis on the Quality Assessment of Drinking Water in Rural Areas of Beijing

    • Objectives To apply a principal component analysis on the quality assessment of drinking water and to investigate the main factors affecting the safety of rural drinking water engineering in Beijing in 2011.
      Methods Principal component analysis was used to have a comprehensive evaluation on the quality of 6 kinds of rural drinking water supply.
      Results The quality of 6 kinds of rural drinking water arrayed from the best to the worst were:full treated water in wet period, full treated water in dry period, parts treated water in wet period, parts treated water in dry period, untreated water in wet period and untreated water in dry period.
      Conclusions Reforming rural drinking water supply and improving water treatment should be strengthened to ensure the safety of rural drinking water supply.
