Investigation of Harmful Substance in Adhesive in Chongqiong City

Objectives  The harmful substance content of adhesive in Chongqing was analyzed in order to search mitigation measures.

Methods 32 kinds of adhesives from 32 shoe companies were investigated and analyzed by random inspection.

Results 23 batches were eligible, and 9 batches were unqualified. The qualified rate was 71.88%. Of the unqualified batches, 6 batches were due to toluene and xylene concentrations were higher than the limit, and the other three were due to benzene concentration was beyond the limit.

Conclusion The supervision of adhesive should be strengthened, and the reasonable choice of solvents should be guided.
