    Analysis on the Results of Sanitary Chemicals in Cosmetics Determined in 2011

    • Objectives To analyze the results of sanitary chemicals in cosmetics determined in 2011.
      Methods The results of sanitary chemicals in 372 cosmetic samples were analyzed statistically.
      Results Contents of plumbum, arsenic, pH, sexual hormones, α-hydroxy acid, thioglycollic acid, hydroquinone, phenol, formaldehyde, antibiotics, metronidazole, cantharidin and chlormethine accorded with the standards of Hygienic Standard for Cosmetics (2007). Hydrargyrum contents in 225 of 226 tested samples were qualified (99.6%). Methanol contents in 14 of 16 tested samples were qualified (87.5%). UV filters in 42 of 44 tested samples were qualified (95.5%), except two unqualified samples not matching the formula. Hair dyes in 22 of 23 tested samples were qualified (95.7%), except one unqualified sample not matching the formula.
      Conclusion The total qualified rate of chemicals in cosmetics examined in 2011 was quite high, but existing the problem of excessive amount of hydrargyrum, methanol and mismatching the formula.
