Study on Modified Fenton Reagent in Processing Phenol Wastewater

    • Objectives To improve the removal rate of phenol in the wastewater.
Methods The ordinary Fenton reagent and the modified Fenton reagent(nano Fe3O4/H2O2 system) were used separately to process simulated phenol wastewater, to find the best reaction parameters and comparing the processing results of the two kinds of reagents.
Results The modified Fenton reagent in simulated phenol wastewater can eliminate (91.80 ±1.64)% COD when nanoFe3O4 and H2O2 were put in the reaction system with the proportion of m(COD):m(H2O2)=1:3, n(Fen+):n(H2O2)=1:5 and pH=3 after stirring 60 min. But ordinary Fenton reagent's COD elimination rate is(81.31±1.83)% in the same condition.
Conclusions The treatment effect of modified Fenton reagent is better than ordinary Fenton reagent in processing wastewater containing phenol.
