Determination of Benzene by Headspace Gas Chromatography in Drinking Water

    • Objectives To explore the relationship between balance temperatures and gas-liquid ratios of seven kinds of Benzene compounds(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene, styrene)in drinking water during headspace separations.
Methods Contents of benzene in drinking water in diffrernt headspace were detemined after gas-lipuild balanced by GC FID detector and FFAP capillary column.
Results When gas-liquid ratio was 4:6, the equilibrium temperature was 50℃, the lowest detectable concentration of seven kinds benzene was 0.0023~0.0063 mg/L, RSD of the method was 6.71%~1.89%, the spiked recovery rate was 96.6%~103.9%.
Conclusions With the selected balance temperature and gas-liquid ratio, benzene compounds in water have better recovery and repeatability, and have satisfactory required detection limit.
