    Analysis on Source Water Quality in Qingpu District of Shanghai in 2005-2009

    • Objectives The quality of raw water in Qingpu district of Shanghai in 2005-2009 had been analyzed and evaluated in terms of major water sources as well as the factors effecting outliers.
      Methods Complying with the requests of water quality inspections in Shanghai CDC, the raw water from water sources in jurisdiction areas had been monitored quarterly. Moreover, it had been assessed according to the national standards for surface water class Ⅲ. The data had been analysed by SPSS 13.0 statistical software.
      Results The inner-rivers, lakes and underwater had been consecutively monitored in Qingpu for 5 years. The indexes, such as, BOD, COD, Ammonia/Nitrogen, Fe, Mn, etc. were severely exceeded the standard limits. The water quality were statistically significant different by year after the rank sum tests.
      Conclusions The raw water quality in Qingpu district was not met with the national standards. Ammonia/nitrogen, BOD, and COD were over the standard limits. Furthermore, the raw water quality has been gradually improved year by year. The Taipu River's water quality is better. The quality of the inner rivers is needed improving.
