Radioactivity in Different Sources Drinking Water in Kunshan

    • Objectives To learn radioactivity in different sources of drinking waters in Kunshan.
Methods A total of 176 drinking water samples, including tap water, source water, treated water, well water and bottled water samples produced in Kunshan were collected; the total α and total β radioactivity were analyzed according to "Standard Examination Methods for Drinking Water Radiological Parameters"(GB/T 5750.13-2006) from February 2013 to February 2014, and the results were determined according to "standards for drinking water quality"(GB 5749-2006).
Results The radioactivity of all water samples was below the standard limits.
Conclusion Drinking water samples were not contaminated by artificial radionuclides in Kunshan, and the radioactivity was in natural normal background level.Monitoring radioactivity in drinking water should be further strengthened.
