Objectives To investigate the level of Cr pollution of farmland soil in the area under heavy metals pollution prevention and control, and to provide scientific basis for the prevention and administration of soil pollution.
Methods According to the Technical Specification for Soil Environmental Monitoring, 56 soil samples were detected for the content of Cr after collected from polluted area and controlled area. The degree of soil pollution was evaluated by using Environmental Quality Standard for Soils.
Results The average of Cr content was 58.81 mg/kg with the range of 42~91.25 mg/kg in farmland soil from areas polluted by heavy metals. None of the samples exceed secondary standard value of Environmental Quality Standard for Soils, but 14.29% samples exceeded background level of the study area(68.3 mg/kg). There was significant difference for the content of Cr in farmland soil between polluted area and controlled area. The ranges of potential ecological risk factors for Cr in farmland soil were 0.56~1.22 and 1.54~0.56 respectively in polluted area and control area, which shows two areas were at a slightly low ecological risk level.
Conclusions The farmland soil was polluted by Cr in polluted area of the county in a low pollution level.
