Effects of Molybdenum on Immune Function of Mice

    • Objectives Study the effects of molybdenum on immune function of mice.
Methods In the mice study, adding different doses of molybdenum (20~500 mg/L) in drinking water. Detect the influence of molybdenum on mice's peropheral immune organ such as spleen, antibody forming and phagocytic function through spleen weight, growth index and phagocytosis of abdomen macrophages detection and in vitro antibody forming cell test.
Results In the group of low doses of molybdenum (20 mg/L) spleen weight, growth index, antibody generation and the function of macrophages were higher than the control group(P < 0.05); in the group of high dose of molybdenum (500 mg/L) spleen weight and growth index, antibody generation and function of macrophages were lower than the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusions Low doses of molybdenum (20 mg/L) can make the mice's immune function enhanced. High dose of molybdenum (500 mg/L) lead to decreased immune function of mice.
