Factors influencing cadmium determination in drinking water based on the interlaboratory comparison project

    • Objective To investigate the factors affecting the determination of cadmium in drinking water and propose the key points of determination based on the interlaboratory comparison project titled "Determination of Cadmium in Drinking Water" in 2021.
Methods The instrument parameters were optimized and the quality control measures were established for sample measurement. The project evaluation samples were analyzed using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
Results The Z-scores of evaluation samples at both concentration levels were less than 1 and the result were satisfactory at a Z-score threshold of ≤2.
Conclusion By using appropriate instrument conditions and quality control measures, the factors that may affect the determination result can be avoided. These strategies serve as effective means to achieve accurate determination result.
