Microbiological detection results in public places in six cities of Guangxi, China, 2021

    • Objective  To analyze the microbial detection results in public places in six cities of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.
Methods  In 2021, microbial surveillance results of public places and public articles (facilities) were analyzed in 309 hotels, swimming pools(gyms), bathing places, shopping malls (supermarkets), barber shops, beauty shops, waiting rooms and gyms in six monitoring cities of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Results  A total of 23 806 microbial samples were collected from various public places in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2021. The qualified rates for coliform and Staphylococcus aureus ranged from 92.00% to 100% at the public places and on public articles (facilities), and bathing water samples had the lowest qualified rate of 92.00% (23/25) for coliform. The qualified rate for the total number of bacterial colonies ranged from 61.29% to 100%, and towels of bathing places, towels of barber shops, and slippers of bathing places had relatively low qualified rates of 66.67% (160/240), 66.17% (397/600) and 61.29% (57/93), respectively. Slippers in bathing places had a relatively low qualified rate for total fungi of 73.12% (68/93).
Conclusion  The overall sanitary condition of public places was good in six monitoring cities of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, but it had relatively low qualified rates for coliform in bathing water, total number of bacterial colonies on towels and slippers of bathing places, and towels of barber shops, and total fungi on slippers in bathing places. It is necessary to strengthen health supervision and improve the sanitary condition of public places.
