    Analysis on the number of published articles and cited times in the Journal of Environmental Hygiene, 2011—2018

    • Objective To analyze the number of published articles and times of cited articles in the Journal of Environmental Hygiene from 2011 to 2018, and explore its academic influence and journal quality.
      Methods All the articles published in Journal of Environmental Hygiene from 2011 to 2018 were retrieved through China National Knowledge Network (CNKI), and the citation data of the above articles in 2011-2018 were collected through the "China National Knowledge Base China Citation Database". The retrieval time is September 2021. The bibliometric method were used to collect statistics on the database, the non-research articles were excluded, and statistical analysis was conduct on the number of articles, columns of articles, fundings, cited authors' affiliations and regions of the journal.
      Results During 2011 to 2018, there were 883 articles published in the Journal of Environmental Hygiene, and the cited rate was 86.86%, the total cited times was 3 827, with 4.99 times per paper; the total number of published articles was 4 011 pages, the average number of articles was 4.54 pages; there were 15 articles with a frequency of more than 20 cited times, and the maximum citation frequency of a single paper was 46 times. The number of articles published and cited in the column of Survey Research, Technology and Method ology, Scientific Research, and Reviews, etc. were relatively high; the citation frequency of articles supported by Funding (4.41 times) was slightly higher than that of unsupported articles (4.25 times). A total of 303 institutions involved in 767 cited articles, among which 15 institutions were cited more than 50 times. The first author of the paper was distributed in 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, among which Beijing, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Sichuan, Shandong, Guizhou, and Gansu contributed a relatively high number of publication and total citation frequency, 565 and 2 504 in total, respectively.
      Conclusion The frequency of citation for the articles published in the Journal of Environmental Hygiene is relatively high compared with other high quality journals. In the future, it is suggested to pay attention to the perspective, the latest scientific research outcomes, the technology and method ology with practical value, and systematic review, etc., and adopt multiple measures to attract high-quality researchers to contribute to this journal, and continuously to enhance academic influence for the Journal of Environmental Hygiene.
