Distribution of Beryllium Dust Concentration at Key Workshops in a Beryllium Plant in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

    • Objective To investigate the change in beryllium dust concentration at different workshops in a beryllium plant in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, explore the distribution characteristics of beryllium dust concentrations of seasonal and diurnal variations,
Methods Dust sampler of ACCZ20 was used to collect samples at different production processes and key workshops of the beryllium plant, and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was used to measure the concentration of beryllium in air.
Results The examination result of some positions were (31~1 394)times were higher than that of the occupational exposure limit, and there were a significant difference in beryllium dust concentration among different workshops, time points, and seasons.
Conclusion The baseline data established based on the investigations can provide key control measures for occupational hazards in the beryllium industry in Xinjiang and thus lay an important foundation for taking targeted preventive and control measures and raising the awareness of self-protection among workers.
