    • Objective To investigate the awareness of COVID-19-related protective measures and hand hygiene knowledge among medical staff in a municipal-level hospital in Lanzhou, China.
Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among medical staff in a municipal-level hospital in Lanzhou to investigate their mastery of COVID-19-related protective measures and hand hygiene knowledge. SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the distribution of awareness rates of COVID-19-related protective measures and hand hygiene knowledge among staff in different posts and departments.
Results A total of 1 249 electronic questionnaires were distributed, 1 243 valid questionnaires were collected, and the awareness rate of protection-related knowledge was above 92%. There were significant differences in the awareness rate of protective measures against splashes or sprays of secretions, hand hygiene knowledge, and proper implementation of hand hygiene among nursing staff, medical staff, technical staff, and staff at other positions (χ2=12.46, 18.905, and 11.583, respectively, all P < 0.01).
Conclusion The awareness rate of COVID-19-related protective measures and hand hygiene knowledge is relatively high among the staff in a municipal-level hospital in Lanzhou, with differences observed in the awareness rate among staff at different posts. Therefore, relevant education should be enhanced.
