    • The outbreak of COVID-19 since the end of 2019 has led to a public health crisis. This article reviews the epidemic characteristics of typical major viral infectious diseases in China and globally, summarizes the prevention and control policies and countermeasures of various countries against these epidemics, and puts forward suggestions to cope with the epidemics caused by major viral infectious diseases on the basis of elaborating on the route of transmission, symptoms of infection, and therapies of COVID-19.
