    An Evaluation of Quantitative Index System for Position Competition in Center for Disease Control

    • Objective  To establish a quantitative index system for position competition in Center for Disease Control (CDC), and to evaluate its performance.
      Methods  The numbers of approved scientific research projects, published articles, and recommended talents within 5 years before and after the introduction of this quantitative index system in H CDC were analyzed to evaluate the role of this system in personnel evaluation and work development.
      Results  The above three indices tended to increase within 5 years in H CDC, with significant increases in the numbers of approved scientific research projects and submissions for various awards and grants. The quality of published articles was also improved, and a breakthrough had been made in the articles on administrative management.
      Conclusion  The quantitative index system gives an intuitive presentation of work ability and performance in position competition and is fairer and has a higher degree of satisfaction than the traditional voting mechanism. In addition, this system can not only be used to measure individual work quality and workload, but also indicate the direction of future implementation. It plays an encouraging role in improving the scientific research quality and society contribution of CDC.
