Objective To determine the content of perchlorate in drinking water by ion chromatography.
Methods The water samples were filtered by 0.22 μm microporous filter membrane and then determined directly on the instrument with a sample size of 500 μL. Chromatography was performed on an IonPac AS20 column and an AERS 500 inhibitor, with a column temperature of 30.0℃ and a pool temperature of 35.0℃. EGC III KOH eluent automatic generator was used to produce the eluent with a concentration of 45.0 mmol/L, and isocratic elution was performed at a suppressor current of 112 mA and a flow rate of 1.00 mL/min.
Results The method detection limit (S/N=3) was 2.00 μg/L, determination limit (S/N=10) was 5.00 μg/L. The results showed that perchlorate had good linearity within the range of (5.00~140) μg/L (r=0.999 9). Three concentrations of 5.00, 70.0, and 130 μg/L were added to the tipe water, samples, then injected continuously six times. The relative standard deviation was 1.21%~2.29%, and the recovery rate of standard addition was 86.2%~97.2%.
Conclusion This method is rapid, convenient, sensitive, and easy to promote, and therefore, it can be used to detect perchlorate in drinking water.
