Disinfection Quality Monitoring of Medical Institutions in Wujin District, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, 2015 and 2017

    • Objective To investigate the disinfection quality of medical institutions at all levels in Wujin District, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province from 2015 to 2017.
Methods According to the Disinfection Quality Monitoring Program for Medical Institutions in Changzhou, a field investigation was conducted for 12 items including indoor air in 28 medical institutions of Wujin District, and samples were collected for disinfection quality evaluation using methods of environmental hygiene.
Results A total of 3 355 samples of 12 items were collected. The mean pass rate of samples was significantly different between 2015, 2016, and 2017 (χ2=17.0, P < 0.01), and the overall mean pass rate during the three years was 93.7% (3 144/3 355). Among the 12 items, there were slightly lower overall mean pass rates for hygienic hands, surgical hands, endoscopes, ultraviolet, and dental water, being 78.4% (337/430), 92.7% (203/219), 88.2% (135/153), 93.9% (293/312), and 83.3% (130/156), respectively. The pass rates of secondary or higher-level medical institutions in 2015, 2016, and 2017 were 98.3% (460/468), 94.1% (444/472), and 96.1% (367/382), respectively, all higher than those of primary medical institutions.
Conclusion It is necessary to take multiple measures including strengthening management and improving nosocomial infection control techniques to further increase the disinfection quality of medical institutions at all levels in Wujin District of Changzhou.
