Objectives To analyze the current status of installation and use of air purification systems and fresh air systems in 20 large shopping malls of Jinan in 2018.
Methods 71 shopping malls in 5 districts of Lixia, Shizhong, Tianqiao, Huaiyin and Licheng were randomly sampled according to the regional distribution, and a total of 20 shopping malls were selected totally. Investigate the use of fresh air and air purification systems in 20 selected malls.
Results The investigated 20 shopping malls in Jinan City are all equipped with fresh air systems, but the fresh air system of only 5 shopping malls has a purification function (25%). In addition, 2 shopping malls have separate air purifiers (10%), and the remaining 13 shopping malls are not equipped with air purification and disinfection devise (65%). Fresh air systems in only 10 of the shopping malls are opening during all business hours (50%), and the fresh air system purifiers in only 2 of shopping malls are opening during all business hours (40%).
Conclusions The centralized air conditioning ventilation systems in some large shopping malls in Jinan have some potential dangers of spreading diseases, which might cause health hazards to people in the above environment in a long term.
