A General Review of Sea Water Desalination and Human Health

    • With the problem of global water shortage, the contradiction between supply and demand of fresh water have been more serious, especially in the island, coastal, and brackish water areas. Desalination has the profound strategic significance to alleviate water shortage issues in these areas. Besides, the relationship between drinking desalinated water and human health has also gained increasing attention. Aiming at the water quality characteristics of desalinated seawater, this article carried out a comprehensive analysis from the perspectives of health risk and water quality stability, desalinated water blending, and health related method. In order to better utilize desalinated seawater, issues that should be concerned and investigated in further studies of seawater desalination health risk were proposed.
