    Sanitary Conditions of Public Articles and Appliances in Public Places from 4 Cities of Inner Mongolia

    • Objectives To understand the sanitary quality of public articles and appliances in public places in Inner Mongolia and to improve the scientific basis for public health management.
      Methods The microbial indexes of 215 public places in Inner Mongolia were detected.
      Results The overall pass rate of public articles and appliances in public places was 93.9%, and those in hotels, hairdressing, beauty and bathing places were 95.2%, 84.2%, 92.3% and 91.0%, respectively(χ2=99.072, P < 0.05). The percentage of total bacterial count of hotel towels was the lowest, 93.0%. The percentages of bacteria in barber's towels and combs were 82.2% and 90.0%, respectively. The total number of bacteria and the qualification rate of coliform bacteria in beauty basins of beauty parlors were 85.5% and 93.6%, respectively. The qualification rates of bacteria and fungi were 70.2% and 86.4%, respectively. The qualified rates of total bacteria, coliform, staphylococcus aureus and fungi in public goods were 94.1%, 99.6%, 99.8% and 86.4%, respectively, with statistically significant difference (χ2=748.716, P < 0.05).
      Conclusions The sanitary quality of public articles and appliances in public places in Inner Mongolia was generally good, but the public articles in barbershops, beauty basins in beauty parlors and slippers in bathing places should be supervised to ensure the physical and mental health of consumers.
