Objectives To explore the main risk factors of gastric cancer in Sheyang County of Jiangsu Province, and to provide clues for preventing the occurrence of gastric cancer in Sheyang County, and to provide basic data for formulating the prevention and control strategies and measures of gastric cancer.
Methods A population-based case-control study was conducted to investigate 189 cases of gastric cancer and 189 healthy controls by matching cases and controls according to age and gender. Univariate and multivariate unconditional Logistic regression method were used to analyze.
Results Overweight (BMI > 23.9) (OR=9.002), salty diet (OR=3.290), eating pickles (1~3) times a week (OR=6.892), eating pickles more than three times a week (OR=3.851), experiencing unfortunate events (OR=4.699), and suffering from gastric diseases (OR=3.973) were risk factors of gastric cancer. Higher annual income (OR=0.533), increased daily water intake (OR=0.622) were protective factors of gastric cancer.
Conclusions Overweight, salty diet, eating pickles, suffering from stomach diseases and other factors affect the occurrence of gastric cancer, we should strengthen physical exercise, change bad living habits, drink more water, relax moods to prevent the occurrence of gastric cancer.
