The Impact of Hot Weather on Labor Productivity in the Context of Climate Change

    • Climate change characterized by global warming will affect the working environment of professional population. Hot weather is an important occupational hazard, not only impairing workers' health, but also influencing their productivity. This paper aimed to investigate the impact of hot weather on labor productivity, and put forward some directions for the future research in China in this field. This review revealed that hot weather could influence labor productivity through acute health event, chronic health damage and stress response. As heat wave might increase both in severity and frequency in the context of climate change, the compromise of labor productivity might be increased, which might affect domestic economic development. Research communities and policy makers in China should pay more attention to this area.
