Assessment on the Levels and Health Risks of Chloroform and Carbon Tetrachloride in Municipal Water Supplies in Jinan

    • Objectives To analyze the level of chloroform and carbon tetrachloride in drinking water in the main urban zone of Jinan and to assess their potential risks to human health.
Methods The collection of water sample from monitoring sites was based on the distribution of population in the main urban zone of Jinan and water samples were determined in 2017.The health risks were assessed by health risk assessment method.
Results The median levels of chloroform and carbon tetrachloride in tap water samples were 5.3 and 0.0576 in dry season and 5.8 and 0.054 μg/L in wet season, respectively. The carcinogenic risk value was 19.44×10-7 and the non-carcinogenic risk value was 0.0063.
Conclusions The health risks of chloroform and carbon tetrachloride in municipal water supplies were in the acceptable recommended value.
