Objectives To analyze the monitored result of microbial indicators in rural drinking water of a city from 2011 to 2015, to find out the influence factors for unqualified microbial indicators of drinking water in rural areas.
Methods The determination of the total number of colonies, total coliforms, heat-resistant coliform bacteria in rural drinking water was carried out regularly and adjusted according to the national standards.
Results A total of 1 550 rural drinking water samples were collected from 2011 to 2015, the qualified rate of three microbial indicators were increased year by year, and the qualified rate for microbial indicators and forms of water source were closely related to treatment and disinfection.
Conclusions The gualified rates of microbial indicators for rural drinking water in the city was not high; in order to protect the safety of rural drinking water, it was proposed to increase investment, improve the processing of water supply and implement disinfection measures.
