The Trend of Air Pollutants in Shenzhen from 2006 to 2016

    • Objectives To study the trend of concentration of air pollutants in Shenzhen from 2006 to 2016.
Methods Daily concentrations of SO2, NO2 and PM10 in the air were collected from seven national controlled sites in Shenzhen from 2006 to 2016. The determination was carried out by a continuous automatic system for monitoring atmospheric quality, mainly analyzed by spectroscopy (DOAS).
Results The annual average daily concentrations of SO2, NO2 and PM10 in Shenzhen from 2006 to 2016 were in a decreasing trend, the concentration of SO2 decreased from 0.0314 mg/m3 to 0.0087 mg/m3, NO2 decreased from 0.0520 mg/m3 to 0.0376 mg/m3 and PM10 decreased from 0.0672 mg/m3 to 0.0433 mg/m3, respectwely. The quality of daily average concentration of ambient air, assessed by the GB 3095-2012 Ambiant air quality standards, was also increasing year by year. For seasonal trends, the average concentration of pollutants in summer was the lowest, which was higher in winter and autumn.
Conclusions The concentration of SO2, NO2 and PM10 in Shenzhen from 2006 to 2016 showed a downward trend, and the air quality had been improved year by year; comparing with the developed countries, efforts to control air pollution should be intensified.
