Simultaneous Determination of Micro Elements in Whole Blood by ICP-MS

    • Objective To develop an accurate method for simultaneous determination of trace micro elements in whole blood by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry with collision reaction interface (CRI-ICP-MS).
Methods Micro amount of blood sample was digested with concentrated nitric acid on a water bath, then the micro elements in blood were determined by collision reaction interface ICP-MS. The matrix effects and signal drift were corrected by the online addition of internal standards, and the interference of elements was eliminated by the application of collision reaction interface technology. The accuracy of the method was evaluated by the agreement of the result with the certified value of standard reference sample.
Result The detection limit was in the range of (0.017~0.83)μg/L, the relative standard deviation was less than 10%, and the recovery of standard addition was in the range of 87.3%~109.8%.
Conclusion This method is simple, sensitive and accurate, which can be used to determine trace micro elements in whole blood directly.
