Seasonal Variation and Correlation of Metals and Metalloids Elements in PM2.5 in Jinan City

    • Objective To analyze the concentration characteristics and seasonal change of metal and metalloids elements in PM2.5 to provide a basis for the control of air pollution in Jinan city.
Method PM2.5 samples were collected from two sampling points, Licheng and Shizhong, on the 10th-16th days of each month in 2016, to determine the concentration of PM2.5 in air and the concentration of metals and metalloids in PM2.5 samples by ICP-MS.
Results The mass concentration of PM2.5 was 79.7 μg/m3, which was higher than that of the second degree of standard limit of ambient air quality. The trend of the concentration of PM2.5 and the concentration of metals and metalloids in PM2.5 in the year was reducing gradually, keeping relatively stable, and then gradually increasing, winter > autumn > spring > summer, Licheng > Shizhong.
Conclusions There was an obviously seasonal variation of metals and metalloids in PM2.5 in Jinan, especially the pollution of PM2.5 was most affected by meteorological condition in the winter. The prevention and control of air pollution is a systematic project. It is necessary to have a comprehensive control over a long period of time, and to pay more attention to the air pollution in different seasons, as well as to formulate corresponding prevention and control measures for air pollution.
