    Comparison on Dichloroacetic Acid Determination in Disinfection By-products for Drinking Water with Gas Chromatographic and Ion Chromatographic Methods

    • Objective To investigate the consistence analytical result of dichloroacetic acid (DCAA), in disinfectant by-products for drinking water, detected by gas chromatography (GC) and ion chromatography(IC).
      Method The detection limit, accuracies, precisions, recovery rates and determination results of water samples were compared by t-test.
      Results The results of dichloroacetic acid in disinfectant by-products of drinking water determined by these two methods were comparable qualitatively and quantitatively, there was no significant difference between the results of these two methods.
      Conclusions The IC method for the determination of dichloroacetic acid has a wider linear range and is simple in pretreatment, which was suggested to add the method to the Standard Examination Method for Drinking Water-Disinfection By-products Parameters (GB/T 5750.10-2006).
