Investigation on Environmental Hygiene in Rural Areas of Deyang in 2016

Objective To investigate and analysis the environmental hygiene status and major hazard factors in rural areas of Deyang in 2016, and to provide a scientific basis for environmental hygiene management.

Method According to the implementation plan of environmental hygiene monitoring in rural areas of Sichuan province in 2016, 200 households of 40 villages in each of the two counties were selected in random.

Results Unified collection of domestic waste was conducted in 82.50% of households.Domestic sewage was eliminated freely in 45% of households, which was finally discharged into rivers.Sanitary toilet was built in 58.85% of households, and the human excreta was mainly discharged into the sewer. Ascaris eggs was detected in 35% of soil samples, with about 10 viable eggs in 40 samples. The contents of cadmium and mercury in 75% and 15% of soil sample were exceeded the standard limit respectively.

Conclusions The rate of sewage treatment was low and the populotity of toilet was also low. The sunitarion in school classroom should be improved and the contamination of cadmium in farmland soil was serious in the rural areas of Deyang.
