Epidemic Feature of Pulmonary Tuberculosis among Students in Lingtai County in 2010—2014

    • Objective  To investigate the epidemic feature of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) among students in Lingtai county, and to provide evidence for the prevention of tuberculosis in schools.
Methods  The information on TB registration and management for students in Lingtai county in 2010—2014 were collected by a TB management system, and the epidemic feature of TB was analyzed by descriptive statistics. The epidemic trend was analyzed on the basis of inspection comparison rate and constituent ratio.
Results  The numbers of student patients registered in the TB management system were 21, 20, 18, 17 and 17 in 2010 to 2014. The smear-negative rate in patients was 65.59%, which was rising year by year. The ratio of male to female was 1.33 to 1. The age of attack was mainly concentrated in (11~20) year-old.
Conclusions  The epidemic situation, prevention and control of the TB in schools of the county were still a challenge. The pulmonary tuberculosis patients in school were mainly smear negative, and the patients were more in boys than in girls. Most of the TB patients were discovered by health check-up. The prevention and control of TB in schools should be strengthened.
