Objective To establish a method for the determination of eight metals in ichthyocolla simultaneously by microwave digestion and inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP-OES).
Methods Dried ichthyocolla samples were crushed and mixed. After microwave digestion, the concentrations of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, iron, manganese, copper and zinc were determined by ICP-OES.
Results The standard curve for Ca, Mg, K and Na were linear in the range of 0 mg/L~40.0 mg/L, r=0.9994~0.9999, and the detective limits 0.49 mg/kg, 0.48 mg/kg, 5.00 mg/kg and 2.67 mg/kg, respectively.Similarly, the standard curve for Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn were linear in the range of 0~2.0 mg/L, r=0.9998~0.9999, and the detection limits were 0.58 mg/kg, 0.63 mg/kg, 0.46 mg/kg and 0.43 mg/kg, respectively. The recovery of standard addition of all samples were 92%~105%, RSD were 1.5%~6.6%.
Conclusions Eight metals in ichthyocolla could be determined simultaneously by this method. There were many other advantages in this method, such as thorough digestion of samples, simple and rapid operation, less interference in spectral range, high sensitivity, high accuracy and wide linear range and so on.
