Objectives To identify the contamination of water supply system by norovirus that caused infectious diarrhea by way of on-site survey and put forward the prevention and control measures.
Methods The patients were investigated by epidemiological methods and their vomits and feces were collected. The field environment was studied by hygienic method and the related drinking-water samples were collected also. All samples were delivered to our laboratory and examined for microorganisms. Based on clinical manifestations, field investigation and examined Results of various sample,we indentified the cause of the incident and put forward some control measures timely.
Results A total of 95 patients were residents of the same community, and they had no history for dining together.The main clinical manifestations were fever, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.The patients' drinking-water, vomits and feces were presented the same type of norovirus.
Conclusion The event was caused by the contamination of community water supply system with norovirus, and proposed the strengthening of monitoring and management of water supply pipeline,,so as to ensure the safety of residents drinking-water.
