Objectives Based on the experiences on preventing epidemic diseases and earthquake relief in plateau areas in the Tibet disaster area of China, to provide a reference for health workers to carry out sanitation and relief works in plateau areas.
Methods According to relevant hygienic standards and technical requirements, and based on the hygienic status at the earthquake plateau area, an on-site investigation was conducted.
Results Based on the characteristics of humanity and geographical environment in plateau area, rescue work and health advice for relieving earthquake aftermath were provided.
Conclusions The relief and disaster prevention work in minority areas should be based on the actual situation of local habits, health facilities, technical ability, natural focus infectious diseases, and fully respecting local religious belief.
