Abstract:
Objectives To investigate the toxicity induced by the EOM from greenhouse soil on target organs.
Methods EOM extracted from greenhouse soil was fed to mice via gavage at doses of 0, 5, 15, 30 g soil dry weight/(kg. bw) individually per day for 4 weeks. DMSO was used as a negative control. Body weight increment and organ coefficient of heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney and brain were calculated, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) in those organs and serum were detected.
Results There were no significant differences between EOM exposure groups and the control group for body weight increment and organ coefficient. SOD activity and MDA content in liver, spleen, kidney, brain and serum of exposure groups were significantly different from the control group and in a dose-dependent manner with the concentration of EOM.
Conclusions Lipid peroxidation in liver, spleen, kidney, brain and serum were induced by the EOM extracted from greenhouse soil.
