Abstract:
Objective To explore the major factors affecting the quality of drinking water in Shantou.
Methods According to the Standard Examination Methods for Drinking Water (GB/T 5750-2006) and Standard for Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749-2006), the samples of drinking water in Shantou were collected from 2017 to 2019 for examination and evaluation. The chi-square test was used to compare the qualification rate of drinking water influenced by different factors. A Logistic regression model was used to analyze the qualification rate of drinking water being affected by the main effects of potential influencing factors and factor-factor interactions.
Results From 2017 to 2019, 1 035 drinking water samples were collected in Shantou, with an overall qualification rate of 68.99%. Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that water sample types, water source types, water treatment technology, and use of disinfection equipment were significantly related to the qualification rate of drinking water (P < 0.05). Significant multiplicative and additive effects were observed between water sample types and water source types, between scale of water supply and water treatment technology, and between scale of water supply and use of disinfection equipment (P < 0.05).
Conclusion The quality of drinking water in some areas of Shantou needs to be improved, especially in rural areas. The protection of water sources should be strengthened, and the processing technology and disinfection of drinking water should be enhanced in rural water plants.
