Analysis on Monitoring Results of Three Heavy Metals in the Rural Soil of Yuxi in 2017

      Abstract:
Objectives To analyze the results of three heavy metals, Pb, Cd and Cr in farmland soil of Yuxi in 2017 and the correlation of indexes to provide a scientific basis and reference for evaluation of soil environmental quality and levels of heavy metals in farmland crops.
Methods Sixty topsoil samples were collected from 60 administrative villages in 15 towns and villages in 3 counties of Yuxi according to a "plum flower shape" distribution; and the levels of Pb, Cd and Cr in rural soil samples were determined. The potential ecological risk of heavy metals in soil was evaluated and analyzed by variance analysis and Pearson correlation analysis.
Results The content of Pb, Cd, and Cr in 60 topsoil samples were in accordance with the national soil standard limits. Cd and Cr levels in soil were in line with the national primary standard limits for soil while Pb was in line with the national secondary standard limit for soil quality. The distribution of lead and chromium in different regions were significantly different. There was a correlation among heavy metal indicators, with a strong homology, which were greatly influenced by natural factors of soil.
Conclusions The quality of farmland soil in Yuxi was rather optimistic. A follow-up study could be conducted from a direction of determining heavy metals in local vegetables and fruits.
