Abstract:
Objective To investigate the indoor air quality and its impact on health of inhabitants and to provide a scientific basis for indoor air pollution control in Yantai city.
Methods The authors randomly selected 50 nearly renovated or decorated apartments as the research object.The concentrations of formaldehyde, BTEX (benzene, toluene and xylene) and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) in indoor air were determined.The assessment of various pollutants in indoor air was evaluated in accordance with the Indoor air quality standard (GB/T 18883-2002).
Results The monitoring results showed that there existed varying degree of excessive concentrations of formaldehyde, benzene and total volatile organic compounds, in which, formaldehyde was particularly serious, its concentration was 7.8 times above the permissible value; in addition, the indoor air pollutants of bedroom usually higher than those of other rooms.
Conclusion There were varying degrees of excessive concentration of air pollutions existed in newly decorated aepartments of Yantai city.
